Holiday Time with Seniors = Look, Listen, and Learn
The holidays are a great time with parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and friends. Be sure to make the most of this time with them. Making the most includes using the time to look, listen, and learn regarding the aging of the people you care about.
Look at them. Are there any obvious physical changes? Are they able to get up out of a chair, walk properly, or travel without issues? Have they lost or gained excessive weight? Are they keeping themselves groomed properly?
Listen to them. Is their speech clear and coherent? Are they aware of where they are? Do they know how they made it to this family event? Do they know what the celebration is for?
Learn from them. Do not wait for something bad to happen to them, like a fall. Get family members involved. Take action. Now.
It is always better, for them and for you, to take action too soon than too late.
